Contrary to what the name CHUCK may suggest, chuck is actually a SHE not a HE….And SHE and her children live in Ohio City and hang out in our courtyard everyday.  We usually start our day to this image…this is Chuck looking into our door to see if we are home….If she cannot readily see us she will actually KNOCK…and by knock, i mean, tap really, but yes, she actually taps her little squirrel nails (claws, talons, what is the proper term here?) on our glass door and sometimes even uses her two paws (hands?) to shield the sun and reflections so she can get a better view inside.  Now, I realize that feeding squirrels can get them to be too dependent on humans for their food, but I suspect Chuck has been playing this game long before Russ or I got involved…That said, we have happily been starting our day with Chuck and her family for a long time now and I just had to share this photo.  i am not exactly sure what is the specific GREEN message is in this post, but perhaps, it is just about the wonder and beauty in nature and animals and yet another reason to be cognizant of how our simple actions can impact it all.

SIDE NOTE:  another thing i find just hysterical about chuck is that while our two indoor cats freak out on the INSIDE of the door, Chuck is utterly unfazed by them, usually looking right past their clawing at the door to find the only thing that she cares is happening on the inside: Humans are around (we like to think it is our love she appreciates but suspect it may be the food).
