While I believe travel to be imperative in my life and an immense source of inspiration, a number of factors, including, I can’t be away from my store too long & i am on a fixed budget while building my business, make too much travel difficult right now, but there are other ways, closer to home to satiate the desire to commune with nature and step outside of routine.  I am going to start tracking some fun (and green) things to do closer to home with an occasional series in the blog called simply, FUN DAY…because that is what I want to have on my day off!

Have you ever heard of Findley State Park?  Other than knowing of it as a mountain biking destination, I had not ever thought much about it.  my mistake.  I know that I live a half mile from the coast of lake erie, but sometimes, yes sometimes, a man-made lake surrounded by woods with a man-made beach attached has nostalgic value and should not be overlooked as a great way to spend a summer afternoon.  which is

exactly what we did this holiday weekend.  only 45 minutes away on 480 West in Wellington Ohio, Findley State Park is a great camping, canoeing, hiking, beaching, and mountain biking park.  As I found, it is also a great book reading, watermelon and raspberry eating, swimming and just a generally relaxing park.

The park is a pet-friendly park, so bring your dog along for a fun day together!

On the way home you can stop at a road side stand that seems to always be there and buy some amazing corn and watermelon.
