amy butler fabric + antique arm chair= LOVE
May 23rd, 2008
If you have been in my store than you probably are somewhat aware of my love for harmoniously balancing OLD & NEW. While I love modern and contemporary design (very much actually), I am never fully (personally) satisfied by it alone. I always feel and unrelenting need to punctuate it with something OLD..I think it is about personalizing a space and making it feel more like a home, MY home, or office or in the case of working with clients, my speciality is in helping them achieve this aesthetic but with THEIR OWN personality infused. Now this, much like when one is employing the principles of Feng Shui, incorporating a balance of old and new does not have to be on a grand scale. This doesn’t mean that you have to think in terms of the ‘whole house’ or ‘entire room’, you can start small and follow your instincts. Start with your workspace or desk. If you have a contemporary, clean-lined desk; adorn it with a few antique items such an elaborately designed or decorated Lamp or even a vintage engraved pewter pen cup can balance out a stark white contemporary desk. This process can very easily be applied to a single item as well. As i have shown here with this chair that is for sale at Room Service (for only $125. !!) Take an antique frame and re-upholster with a NEW fabric, in this case NIGELLA WATER LILLY by Ohio’s own, AMY BUTLER adds just the right balance of personality, color, and modern flair to this otherwise very traditional antique chair….and by ‘re-decorating’ an already existing piece of furiture using a fabric that is designed right here in Ohio….your also being GREEN! Room Service is open 11-7 Tuesday - Saturday 12-4 Sunday and Closed on Monday. 216.281.4221 or info@roomservicecleveland for more information on anything you see here.
